Beautiful and Terrible

I feel like I'm holding on tightly to the quote in my blog heading this morning.

"...Don't be afraid."

The world is beautiful and it is terrifying. Events like the shootings we've experience (1 only miles from my house), skews my view. Death seems like it's all around, and I don't know that I have a hopeful response.

There have been a lot of questions about why this all happened, but what I'm holding onto is that God is broken-hearted with us. He's broken hearted with all of us who are grieving loss, all over the world.

"though the darkness hide thee, only thou art holy, there is none beside thee. perfect in power, in love and purity."

11th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

Some of the people I spent my young 20's with, my after-college friends who I had 7-day a week fun with, who sent me off to my year abroad with love!

Friday, November 30, 2012

November was possibly the most work-heavy, antisocial month of the year so far! Hoping for way more friend time this month.

Tomorrow I'm going to the ELEVENTH annual Thanksgiving friends dinner. I can't believe I was there for the first annual. Wow!

October lovelies

Birthday Weekend trip to the Oregon Coast... rainy and stormy and grey, wood stove, best friends, steak, wine, birthday cake and candles, games and laughter. Lots of laughing.

Family Photo shoot in the cold, but beautiful Oregon Fall.

Photo: Worlds Apart Photography

1 year since losing grandma. Still missing her laugh, how her nose would wrinkle up and her eyes would sparkle. She remains one of the most patient and loving people ever on this earth.  I'm thankful for the time I had with her and thankful that she is now relieved of the debilitating pain she experienced for so many years. I will think of her every October and Valentine's Day (her birthday).

My favorite season. Warm sweaters, rich food, hot drinks and cozy nights indoors.

Holding Off on Fall

At the farmer's market today, my friends and I were talking about that urgency to enjoy the rest of summer. Summer in Portland is the BEST! And we wait a long time for it. It's just weird when the school year has started and I'm totally in Fall mode, but it's 93 outside. So I'm not wishing summer away, I'll take it while it lasts. I'll throw open my windows, throw on a skirt and soak it up. Because the rain is coming. And once it sets in, it's here to stay. My tights can wait...

Trip to Seattle with Trina's really nice camera and epic* skills
